Lebanon shines as sustainable sourcing alternative at Fruitlogistica

April 12, 2023

What a beautiful event it was! From February 8-10, 2023, seven Lebanese exporters of fresh fruits and vegetables participated in a Lebanon pavilion at Fruitlogistica in Berlin.
The pavilion caught the attention of every visitor in the City Cube hall B. With a 17 meters long banner at a height of 5 meters, the 80m2 pavilion was hard to miss.

Participating exhibitors

The following companies participated in the Lebanon pavilion:

Worldwide interest for Lebanese fruits and vegetables

The Lebanese exhibitors caught a lot of interest from buyers from North America, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Southeast Asia. Altogether more than 250 business contacts have been established. There was especially great interest for Maverick potatoes, avocados and table grapes from Lebanon.

Competitive advantage

Other than the great quality of the Lebanese fruits and vegetables, there are typical competitive edges Lebanon can offer. For example, the late varieties of table grapes produced in Lebanon can meet the demand in particular windows in the European market. Moreover, the distance to market is a big benefit for buyers from the European and Gulf markets. For both table grapes and (organic) avocados the lower carbon footprint is a big win for importers when sourcing from Lebanon compared to Latin America. As such, Lebanon can truly be an alternative and sustainable sourcing option.

What’s next?

The Lebanese exporters of fruits and vegetables will definitely come back next year to Fruitlogistica. The Lebanon pavilion will shine once more. But not only in Berlin in 2024, in October this year, the Lebanon pavilion will already be put up in Madrid at Fruit Attraction. So, in case you missed the opportunity in Berlin, you have a second chance to meet with new potential supply partners from Lebanon in Madrid. We will keep you posted about the event in our news section and through our LinkedIn page. Don’t miss out!
